Every creator has googled a rate card and found numbers so wide they are useless. The problem is the question: "what does someone with X followers charge?" Brands stopped buying followers years ago. They buy expected attention and rights.
Build the number in four layers
- Base on views, not followers. Your average views over the last 10 to 15 posts is the honest reach a brand buys. A common India starting band for an organic reel is roughly ₹100 to ₹250 per thousand average views, before the layers below move it.
- Engagement multiplies. An audience that comments and saves converts. If your engagement rate is well above your tier's norm, your CPM band moves up; if it is thin, expect pushback.
- Niche is a price, not a vibe. Finance and tech brands routinely pay a multiple of lifestyle rates for the same reach, because their customer value is higher. Beauty and fashion sit in the middle; broad entertainment prices lowest.
- Usage rights are a separate product. An organic post on your handle is one price. Paid amplification, whitelisting, or the brand running your face as an ad is a licence, priced and time-boxed separately. "Perpetual, all media" is not a checkbox, it is a large invoice.
The two mistakes that cost the most
First: quoting one number for "2 reels + 3 stories + rights" instead of pricing the deliverables and the licence separately. Bundles hide where you undercharged. Second: never counting production costs. If an edit, a studio and props ate 40% of the fee, your real rate was 60% of what you think it was.
The Creator Kamai rate calculator builds your band from your actual stats and niche, and the deal tracker shows the margin on every deal after costs, so the next quote is based on what last time truly paid.
